The Ministry of Defence is to cut its list of electrical suppliers from hundreds to just 25 as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
However, just one prime vendor with an annual turnover of £19m will be selected to source the 23,000 different items used by the Armed Forces.
According to Electronics Weekly, the decision is to ensure that one supplier has the infrastructure in place to support the needs of the Army, Navy and AirForce.
The policy is part of the MoD's Non-Project Procurement Office.
