UK businesses prefer old and unreliable communication technologies like ISDN, because new and unreliable technologies like DSL fail to cut the mustard.
Research company Rhetorik interviewed IT decision makers at 361 UK companies, and found that less than two per cent were using DSL as their key internet connection technology.
Only 17 per cent of companies that are planning a connection upgrade will choose DSL, according to Rhetorik.
ISDN, however, is the technology of choice for 45 per cent of SMEs and 50 per cent of medium-sized companies, the survey found.
This is despite the many so-called benefits of DSL, such as an "always-on" connection, higher data rates and lower cost.
