You know what they say: 'Big car.... small amount of respect for the speed limit'
Published: 3 September 2001 16:25 GMT
Bosses of IT firms are far more likely to be caught speeding than their staff according to the latest research out today from industry portal Systems Plaza.
Defying the stereotypes of boy-racer sales staff and flash-Harry IT contractors, it seems the champagne Charlies on the board are much more likely to get spotted driving too fast.
The worst offenders are marketing directors, a third of whom have been caught over the speed limit in the past twelve months. Next up are CEOs and MDs.
Presumably the problem exists because highly paid bosses opt for large cars with powerful engines. While Systems Plaza didn't offer an explanation, Freud would probably have had many.
Whatever the reason, it seems the trend holds true within the IT department as well with IT directors and managers the third most likely candidates for being found out by speed cameras. Conversely non-management IT staff were the safest of all categories surveyed, with no respondents having been caught speeding.
Systems Plaza surveyed its members, who comprise 6,000 firms from the UK IT, telecoms and internet sectors.
