Intec Telecom Systems has reported losses of £140m after taking a £142m write-down against goodwill and acquisitions - turning a meagre, but commendable profit given the state of the telco market into a considerable loss.

The company, which produces billing software for telcos, saw profits before deductions fall 18 per cent despite reporting an increase in customer numbers.

Shares in Intec fell 12.5p to 84.5p.
