Corporate IT budgets are being hit the hardest as the economic downturn bites, while ebusiness and ecommerce ventures are still escaping the worst of the cuts.
According to the latest eState of the Nations survey commissioned by EDS Esolutions, cuts are mainly coming in $1bn plus organisations rather than $100m plus companies and those cuts are primarily in corporate IT projects rather than ebusiness.
Mike Fitzgerald, CRM practice directors for EDS Esolutions said the fact that wholesale slashing of budgets across the board, which many feared, has failed to materialise bodes well for jobs in the sector.
The report also indicates that B2B and supply chain management projects are in favour, while B2C developments have been put on hold. Many firms are putting the ability to conduct transactions electronically as their top priority.
EDS Esolutions surveyed 320 directors and senior executives of large organisations and government departments throughout Europe.
