It'll work as long as you've got an HP printer...

HP has launched a Bluetooth adaptor for printers which will allow users to print remotely from mobiles and computers.

The adaptor, running on the latest version of Bluetooth 1.1, will operate as a plug-in attachment to non-Bluetooth printers.

While HP claims the device will work with Bluetooth enabled PCs and handhelds from any vendor, the adaptor is compatible only with HP printers.

But users of older HP printers will need to upgrade if they want to avail of the £99 device, as it works only with the HP thousand series printers, with the exception of the Laserjet 9000.

HP has already launched Bluetooth enabled Jornadas and Omnibooks in the past few months.

Company officials said that customers had shown interest in the Bluetooth products, but could not provide sales figures.

Carl Feltham, a technical consultant with HP, said the company planned further Bluetooth developments within the next six months, including Bluetooth enabled scanners and web cameras.
