CSC wins $1.35bn health IT megadeal

CSC has won a $1.35bn outsourcing megadeal as part of a contract extension with US not-for-profit healthcare company Ascension Health.

The 10-year deal follows the seven-year $200m IT services contract signed with Ascension Health last September.

Starting from January next year CSC will manage the IT operations for 32 Ascension Health departments across 80 facilities including helpdesk, network, security and telecoms services along with server, mainframe and desktop computing.

Sherry Browne, CIO at Ascension Health, said the extension follows an extensive and thorough review of the company's IT operations.

"We are satisfied that extending our relationship with CSC will help further our healing mission, enable achievement of our system priorities and offer exciting new opportunities for IT associates," she said in a statement.

Ascension Health is the US' largest Catholic and not-for-profit health system, with over 100,000 associates serving in 67 acute care hospitals and other related facilities around the country. Its 'healing mission' is to focus its services on those who are poor and vulnerable.
