Mickey Mouse IT job lures top General Motors tech exec

That's the CIO position at Walt Disney in case you were wondering…

One of General Motors' (GM) top IT executives is switching to take the top IT job at the Walt Disney Company, in what certainly can't be described as a Mickey Mouse role.

Tony Scott, long-serving CTO at GM, will take over as senior VP and CIO for the Walt Disney Company later this month.

Scott joined GM from pharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1999 and was responsible for defining the IT and telecoms architecture and standards across all of GM's businesses globally.

He holds an information systems management degree and a law doctorate and has also held positions with the likes of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Sun Microsystems.

At GM, Scott reported directly to group VP and CIO Ralph Szygenda.

A source at GM told silicon.com: "I of course am very sad to see him leave, but thrilled for his new position and pending opportunities."

Neither GM nor the Walt Disney Company were available for comment.
