No wonder more and more people are working from home when they can - but what if the entire office had to work from home for the day?

Our warts-and-all account of what happened when the whole silicon.com team worked from home for the day was a top story with readers this month, revealing the trials and tribulations of road warriors running out of power - and even how a cat disrupted the working day.

And out of this came another very popular story - our top 10 tips on how to make the most of a day spent working at home.

In fact, staying at home is probably the wisest choice - as we also revealed levels of laptop theft around the country. For many people obviously branded laptop bags have to bear at least some of the responsibility for increasing levels of theft.

Of course, as silicon.com reporters found out, when you are working from home and something goes wrong with the company laptop, you will probably end up having to act as your own tech support guy. But some DIY-loving workers shun the IT helpdesk even when they are in the office - and instead attempt to fix their own PC problems, not always with the best of results.
