WEEE
Nothing to do with a certain games console, the WEEE directive stands for the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive and is an EU legislation aimed at forcing businesses and consumers to dispose of electronic gadgets in a responsible fashion - namely through increased recycling and reuse.

Despite WEEE coming into force in January 2007, the legislation did not come into full effect until 1 July 2007.
And it turns out several EU countries have failed to turn the WEEE rules into national law and will face legal action from Brussels, according to the European Commission.
To up public and industry perception on WEEE, the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts Manufactures and Commerce even deployed a 20 foot robot, called the WEEE man, next to City Hall on London's South Bank, in an attempt to encourage the tech industry to take its environmental responsibility more seriously.
