silicon.com has launched a series of exclusive CIO events aimed at equipping tech chiefs with the tools they need to be an effective board-level leader - from marketing the IT department and succession planning to preparing for the next generation of business software.

The silicon.com CIO Series networking events provide an intimate and trusted environment for IT leaders to connect with their peers and explore the issues and challenges they face as a profession.

The free CIO Series events are exclusively for CIOs and the first will be held at the Michelin-starred Benares restaurant in Mayfair, London on the evening of 29 September.

The theme for that event will be 'Succession planning - how to create the next generation of CIOs' and will cover how to find and develop the right talent and the career path to CIO, with the discussion lead by CIO career development coach Brinley Platts.

The second CIO Series, on 22 October, covers marketing the IT department, building relations with the business and influencing the board.

The third CIO Series event, on 10 November, will be based on the future of software, the big trends that will impact on buyers of business software and the developments no one can afford to ignore.

Each CIO Series event is limited to a maximum of 12 CIOs and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are a CIO - or equivalent head of IT - and would like to attend any of the first CIO Series events, please click here to register as a CIO Series VIP. As a VIP, you'll be the first to hear about future events and CIO-exclusive offers.

If you have any queries about CIO Series, please email cioseries@silicon.com.
