I think companies moving their call centres abroad are making a big mistake. We already have little manufacturing. We depend on service industries to provide employment. If everyone who takes orders, processes orders, answers an enquiry, deals with invoices etc is in a different country (probably where the goods are manufactured anyway) we need to accept we are facing MASS UNEMPLOYMENT in the future. Ironic really, the manufacture and administration involved in the production of goods will be done in 3rd world countries and the mass unemployment in 1st world countries means no-one will be able to afford them. They'll have to sell the goods in the markets where they were produced and the 3rd world will become the 1st world and vice versa. I think I'll buy a property in India just in case I need to move - I wonder how countries used to lots of emigration would feel about lots of immigration.
