Safeway and other enterprises see the strong value that RFID technology could bring to their value chain. They need to balance the financial gain with negative implications from the individual consumer perspective, such as privacy. If the consumer is given options regarding their adoption of RFID post-purchase, then there is a chance that individual choice and freedoms can be maintained.
