Martin Brampton's assertion that the majority of people have not seen an improvement in their standard of living in the last 30 years is just not true. I am 67 years ofl and can assure him that compared with 1974, the genneral affluence of the people of this country is considerably improved. Besides which in 2004, if we did not have computers and mobile phones, life would be more or less impossible for the majority of people who have a job.
