XP SP2 trashed my Compaq 1720us Laptop. Installation hung and failed leaving me with a system that would not boot and could not read the hard drive. Fortunately chkdsk saved the day, and their system recovery techniques worked to get the computer back on-line. I for one will wait longer before I try it again.
