I am surprised your staff have any problems working from home, I work on LARGE files with Access-Excel-Business Objects so find the best method is to have a 3mhz, 2GB ram PC with no vdu, keyboard or mouse in the server room and use XP remote desktop to drive it from home with my laptop. It's faster than being in the office and it has only gone down once in 4 years. I can handle massive data files without the need to download them over the 4MB cable VPN. The cost of a base unit is minimal in comparison to new laptops to keep up with technology.
