Many entrenched board members have no understanding of the real world and their primary objective is to protect their position and renumeration package, with needs of the business secondary.
IT has probably a better understanding of processes and business operations than most other functions, as it has to support and provide the systems, and the glue to hang together, which enable it to all to work.
Congrats to the Naked CIO on making it to the boardroom, apologies that they treat you like Jen from the IT Crowd.
