So basically what you are saying is this: the board has been around a long time and if they are any good at their jobs then all the fat will have been trimmed already, the project decisions made will still be valid and there's no need to review anything as the company is already doing the right thing to survive

But if they aren't any good at their jobs then all the fat that needs cutting is currently sitting around the boardroom table

You're still not thinking like a board-level executive but on this particular issue I agree with you.
