IT pros are getting one and a half hours less shuteye than recommended, putting IT just behind high-stress professions, including lawyers and call centre workers.

The study of 4,000 workers found that 75 per cent of employees admitted getting less than eight hours kip per night.

The survey says worry about work and job security tops the list of things keeping workers awake, with money worries and working late also fuelling sleepless nights.

More than a third of those surveyed said they can not switch off from work at any time and 32 per cent said they drift off thinking of work.
