Damn sloppy journalism - someone been eating the MS press releases again ?
"Microsoft is in the process of gaining ISO standardisation for the document formats in the latest version of Office." is a false and very misleading statement, though it's exactly what MS want people to believe.
It has APPLIED to have it made a standard, but that depends on whether ISO want to adopt it. In it's present form they would be really stupid to accept it as it goes against everything that a standard SHOULD be.
It is incomplete and CANNOT be implemented by anyone other than MS, and it directly contradicts several other standards. That's just for starters !
