It's not just the support, it's the users as well. The company i work for is riddled with senior people who don't understand even the basic functionality of the box on their desk. Trying to get them to pick up on anything more advanced than a powerpoint slide is a nightmare, as a result all of the multi-location enablers that are out there (and even in use in the company) fall flat because the higher echelons refuse to learn how to use them.
How long will businesses tolerate their senior people (and i'm talking about the bloomin' IT department here as well) happily claiming to be technically illiterate on the assumption that someone else will come along and sort it out for them?
Apologies for the anonymous comment but i'm guessing you can see why...
