Silicon Valley, Bangalore and London have been named the most innovative and influential locations for technology development by a panel of experts brought together by silicon.com.

The silicon.com Tech Hotspots special report lists the 20 locations around the globe that are making the biggest contribution to the technology landscape.

Silicon Valley was named as the world's most influential Tech Hotspot, with judges citing its long heritage in technology innovation and continued influence as key factors. Bangalore, ranked the second most influential Tech Hotspot by the panel, is at the heart of India's technology boom, while London was ranked third by the international panel including CIOs, entrepreneurs, academics, lawyers and technology editors.

Silicon.com editor Steve Ranger said: "The silicon.com Tech Hotspots list shows that technology innovation is really a global industry. While Silicon Valley still claims top spot, competition from India and China will increasingly give it a run for its money."

The silicon.com Tech Hotspots special report profiles each of the 20 cities on the list and explains what makes them so important, and even offers handy information for the executive business traveller including details of local airports and ideas for where to eat.
