Recruiting good tech staff is hard enough in the first place, as silicon.com's 2007 Skills Survey revealed this week, but keeping hold of top performers who might be tapped up by rival employers or tempted by big contracting bucks is an altogether more difficult task.

At the recent launch reception for silicon.com's CIO50 list of the top 50 CIOs in the UK we asked some of the leading IT chiefs what their secret is for keeping hold of top tech talent in their organisations.
