Novell, Netscape and Microsoft are expected next month to announce plans to link their directory products with enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications.
The move would mean greatly simplified ERP applications for users. For example, linking Novell Directory Services with PeopleSoft's Human Resources (HR) application would automate many HR tasks such as creating new employee GroupWise accounts.
Microsoft has already announced the integration of its Active Directory services with software from Baan, SAP and JD Edwards. However, integration with PeopleSoft is unlikely until Active Directory is closer to shipping, according to US sources.
Netscape will offer consultancy services on how to link its directory with ERP applications.
