IBM has agreed to acquire ecommerce firm, Whistle Communications, for an undisclosed amount.
IBM wants to use Whistle's technology to reach businesses with less than 100 employees. The company will charge a monthly fee to turn small companies into online businesses who communicate with customers via a Web site.
Whistle's 'thin server' systems allow businesses to set up Net access and email services for multiple employees through a single Internet connection.
Products and services arising from the acquisition will be available worldwide.
