Hewlett-Packard (HP) and CompuServe in the US are looking at the free-PC sales model as a way to attract SMEs, according to the latest US reports.
The offer could allow customers rebates of between $100 to $400 on HP hardware, in exchange for signing a one to three year service agreement with CompuServe.
For customers who are apprehensive about signing a long-term ISP contract, HP is also offering business users a Net-connected Brio PC for under $500. The computer comes with AT&T Internet connectivity software.
HP was unable to confirm whether it has any plans to launch a similar scheme in Europe.
