Software and services specialist, Rebus Group has offered to acquire SME payroll company, Moorepay, for £41m.
The move is part of Rebus's strategy to broaden its customer base, particularly in the SME sector, which it regards as an untapped revenue source. Moorepay currently processes 5,600 individual payrolls for small companies across the UK.
In a prepared statement, Peter Presland, Rebus CEO, admitted that the acquisition was central to the company's Internet strategy. "The acquisition represents a logical step in our strategy to develop payroll outsourcing and ultimately, Internet-delivered payroll bureau services," he said.
