The study found that SMEs are expected to spend 50 per cent more on telecom services, such as fixed-line voice and internet services, than in 2000. Voice calls remain the primary expense, but utilities such as web access and site hosting are also on the increase.
The report concludes that SMEs remain faithful to incumbent suppliers such as British Telecom, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom, because of their desire to buy services from a single provider.
