Deliver on time or you'll get a fine...

US regulators have warned e-tailers to meet overnight delivery promises in the run up to Christmas, or face hefty fines in the New Year.
The FTC this week sent warning letters to 72 websites advertising 'quick-ship' claims, outlining its regulations on honouring delivery times, notifying customers of delays and refunding money.
The early warning comes as the FTC attempts to avoid the festive fulfilment problems of the last couple of years, when many last minute customers were left empty handed after e-tailers failed to deliver goods before the promised deadline.
The FTC collected $1.5m in fines from errant e-tailers after Christmas 1999, but said complaints decreased last year.
