Scotland Yard has joined forces with the Commonwealth Business Council in a new initiative to fight high-tech crime such as identity theft.
The pair have created a new organisation, the New Scotland Yard Economic Crime Working Group, which will be charged with raising awareness among businesses on issues including cyber crime, intellectual property rights and data theft.
The working group held its first meeting today in London, with members including government and police personnel, diplomatic officials from countries including Pakistan and the Philippines, and representatives from industry including tech and financial services firms.
The group aims to create best practices around avoiding such crime as well as raising awareness over new threats.
