I see all these grand names like "virus" and "trojan" and i get to pay money to companies to protect me from these great threats after already paying money to fix my computer from a trojan. Then I see the media building it up by publishing these contentless stories and creating top 10 lists, making stars out of these people and conjuring up visions of some great conflict or event, as if any of this really matters.

Yet all this it is a bunch of sad attempts at mental masturbation, with software companies fueling a fear to get more money and the press trying to make a dull subject intresting to sell subscriptions. All of which fuels the whole process into a cycle of nonsense, while we get to throw money at it to make it go away, but in fact making it worse.

I just wish Operating systems would build in protection and public money would be used internationally to deal with the crime and the media would just give the whole thing the disdain it deserves. I don't think I am alone in this view.
